Accessing state and federal grants, awards and other funding is one of many ways PGE is managing costs while providing clean and reliable energy to customers.
PGE, along with other stakeholders, applied for a variety of grants and awards following the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Below are more details on the grants PGE or a co-applicant has been awarded, or that include PGE as a partner.
Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, in partnership with PGE, receives $250M for critical transmission upgrades
A $250 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy will help the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, in partnership with PGE, complete vital transmission upgrades. This significant contribution to the reliability of Oregon’s clean energy infrastructure will enable enhancements to the existing 230 kV Bethel-Round Butte Transmission line – a crucial artery in the region’s transmission system.
Pacific Northwest consortium named as a regional clean energy hydrogen hub
The PNWH2 Hub was selected to begin award negotiations with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED) as part of this cutting-edge clean energy opportunity, marking the first step in a multi-year process to affirm hydrogen project feasibility, affordability, and impacts. PGE’s project concept would utilize the site of the former Boardman Coal Plant, which was demolished in 2022, to locate a potential new facility to produce clean hydrogen to generate clean electricity, continuing PGE’s investment in eastern Oregon.
PGE awarded grant to accelerate and deploy grid edge computing
Investments in grid edge computing will help PGE maintain resilient grid operations during severe weather events and achieve progress toward our decarbonization targets. Grid edge technologies improve resilience, enable the integration of distributed energy resources, and maximize customer investments in home energy solutions.
Oregon Clean Energy Workforce Coalition selected as a member of the Quality Green Jobs Regional Challenge
This first round of funding will allow PGE and coalition of partners aim to gain a deeper understanding of regional needs, risks and opportunities related to jobs in the clean energy labor market. The clean energy economy has a role for everyone, and – together with our partners – we’re proud to be a leader in efforts to shape a more inclusive and equitable energy industry.
Oregon Clean Energy Workforce Coalition receives grant to develop a skilled, diverse and inclusive clean energy workforce
OCEWC will utilize funding from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Critical Sectors Job Quality Grants Program to scale and expand a pre-apprenticeship program at Oregon correctional facilities, to engage youth in energy career learning opportunities, and to collaborate with community-based organizations to improve access to clean energy jobs for career seekers throughout Oregon.
Oregon Clean Energy Workforce Coalition advances to second phase of the Quality Green Jobs Regional Challenge
As one of 10 semifinalists selected by JFF, this second round of funding will allow PGE and coalition partners to conduct a statewide market assessment to better understand workforce needs, obstacles and opportunities in Oregon.
